Foods That Cause Kidney Stone – Know What You Should Avoid

If kidney stones run in your family, you are definitely more likely to have kidney stones at least once in your life. If you already know that you are get oxalate kidney stones, you should avoid some very specific foods. Foods that cause oxalates stones are:

- sweet potatoes
– rhubarb
– black tea
– spinach
– chocolate
– beets
– okra
– swiss chard
– peanuts
– soybean crackers
– wheat germ
– liver
– grits
– marmalade
– grapes
– strawberries
– celery
– fruit cake
– red raspberries
– green peppers

It is important that you discuss with your medical care provider the foods that cause kidney stones further, so you can avoid them. Some things you might not be able to avoid if you are on a specific diet regimen.

In some circumstances your doctor might want you to consult a nutritionist to help you with a meal plan that will benefit your health and not increase your risks of getting the stones.

Modifying your diet can be among the best ways for you to be able to reduce and possibly eliminate the discomfort and pain that is all too often associated with kidney stones. Here are more foods you should avoid if possible:

- dairy products (milk, cheese etc)
– white flour
– tea
– coffee
– spices
– sugar loaded foods
– meats
– condiments (ketchup, mayo, relish etc.)

Be aware, that not acquiring enough essential vitamins can also lead to the formation of stones. This can sometimes make it important to begin a vitamin supplement regimen. Make sure you have the approval of your medical care provider before you take anything, even for pain.

It is possible that you can cause yourself more pain and discomfort if you are mixing medications without approval. Also, it is important that you are not diagnosing on your own. Be sure you visit your doctor and have a professional diagnosis. There are several other health related issues that can have the same symptoms as kidney stones.

Understanding and knowing the foods that cause kidney stones is going to be half of your battle in defeating them. It is likely you will still find you have the condition, but overall the pain should be much less intense and the frequency of the stone formation should be less often. Simple things like dietary modifications and increasing your water intake can prove to be wise decisions.

The Symptoms of Kidney Stones in Ureter

What are symptoms of kidney stones in ureter? They arise when a stone turn out to be lodged in the ureter/urethra. Clearly, kidney stones cause unbearable pain when come in a ureter.

If a stone becomes sizeable enough, it may start to depart of your kidney and move forward through the ureters – the tubes that transmit urine from the kidney to your bladder.

If it gets immovable in the ureter, this is able to bring about an infection which can cause enduring kidney harm.

The ureter contracts in response to the stone, producing serious pain in the flank or lower back that frequently radiates to the groin, in men to the testis. Those who with nephrolithiasis commonly cannot get comfortable and will always alter position in an effort to get release from the embarrassment.

In general, the pain comes in waves. A wave could last 20 to 60 minutes and afterward discontinue. The pain stops with no taking up again when the ureter relaxes or the stone passes into the bladder.

Many kidney stones don’t move and are too tiny to bring about any symptoms. But, if they cause an obstruction, or enter on the ureter, it could cause some of the following symptoms:

* serious pain in the back

* unexpected spasms of agonizing pain – this typically begins in the back below the ribs, prior to radiate around the abdomen, and occasionally to the groin and genitalia

* bloody, cloudy, smelly urine

* feeling/being sick

* a repeated urge to urinate, or a burning sensation throughout urination

* fever and chills

Kidney stones are generally passed out of the body inside 48 hours, but, on occasion attacks can last for more than 30 days.

These can be symptoms of a urinary tract infection, or cystitis as well, which is much more familiar than kidney stones in young women. If you have one or more of these symptoms you ought to ask for medical advice.

Symptoms Of Kidney Stones

There are some common symptoms of kidney stones that include the presence of blood in the urine, pain and obstruction in urinating, acute pain in the lower abdomen and groin, fever, nausea and vomiting.

Kidney stones are asymptomatic. Many people may have kidney stones but never realize it, as they continue to pass them in urine without any pain. But if the stones become larger or get stuck between the kidneys and the bladder, that could result in severe pain.

The symptoms of kidney stones may vary from person to person. Some may feel a dull pain in the lower back or pelvis. This is a clear indication that something is wrong with your body. The level of pain may go up and down, or it may be continuous.

Sometime pain is not so acute initially, but then after a few days it starts hurting you more and more. As it increases, some patients can feel tension in their kidney area and obstruction in urinating. The pain may be tolerable, but that doesn’t mean it should be left unchecked.

Along with dull and continuous pain in the lower back, sometimes the body temperature of a patient increases due to fever. The fever could be the result of infection caused by kidney stones. Sometimes patients don’t have a fever but they feel groggy.

Kidney stones often make walking and bending a difficult task. Along with this, if one feels that his or her energy level has come down drastically, that could be another symptom of kidney stones.

One of the most common symptoms of kidney stones is a shooting pain in the lower abdomen and groin. The pain is so acute that one may not be able to walk even a few steps to reach for medical help.

Home Treatment For Kidney Stones – Secret Remedies That Work …

Most people suffering from this disease will use a home treatment for kidney stones. But drinking plenty of water will only help flush stones that are smaller than 5 mm.

And some kidney stones can be up to 8 mm! If your stones are being stubborn, it may be time you try some secret remedies that have been shown to be more effective than water.

In this article, you will learn some simple tips to begin your kidney stone home treatment.

How to Flush a Kidney Stone

It is remarkable how simple it is to treat such a painful disease. Unfortunately, most people try to rely on doctors for treating this disease. Patients leave the doctor’s office discouraged only to hear that drinking plenty of water was the only ‘medication’ prescribed. Some patients get expensive pain killers.

But after a few days or weeks, some patients still are dealing with the pain associated with this disease. If this is the case, you may need to involve your diet, vitamins or even some natural acids to begin the dissolving of the stones. Here are some better tips than ‘drinking plenty of water’.

Tips from a Home Treatment for Kidney Stones

1. Drinking distilled water is the best water to be drinking because it is mineral-free. With no minerals flushing the kidneys, you may have better luck passing your stone.

2. Eating 5-7 servings of vegetables can be helpful because of the water soluble dietary fiber. Fiber and chlorophyll are two compounds which can help flush the kidneys. Asparagus, parsley and spinach are great options for vegetables.

3. For fruit, many patients have found that eating 2-3 watermelons in one day can be helpful. Because watermelon is mainly ‘water’ this seems to make sense.

4. There is a lot of research about acids dissolving the stones. Because the liver plays no role in regulating acids or bases, it makes sense that acids can reach the kidneys. The best acid remedies have used lemons (citric acid) and phosphoric acids.

5. Exercising is beneficial when suffering from this disease. Exercising has been shown to shift kidney stones in the organ which can greatly increase the chance of passing the stones. Try to work out in some way for 30 minutes daily. Abs or core workouts have been also very beneficial.

Cortisone Injections Into Joints Can Help or Harm

Doctors often inject cortisone-type medications into painful damaged joints and tendons. Single injections can relieve pain and swelling and appear to be safe, but repeated injections can damage joints and delay healing.

Scientists in Greece injected cortisone-type drugs repeatedly into the joints of rabbits and showed that they damage cartilage. A paper in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery shows that the injecting cortisone-type medications repeatedly into injured tendons and ligaments, delays healing and weakens tissue.

In light of these findings, you would think that doctors would stop injecting joints and tendons. However, people can be crippled by arthritis and a single injection into a damaged knee joint can allow an arthritic to walk without pain. The same principle applies to athletes and exercisers, who can develop pain in their tendons, muscles, fascia and ligaments from injuries. When injuries heal in a few days, no treatment is indicated, but sometimes they persist for months to cause pain, particularly in the fascia on the bottom or back of the heel, in the large tendon in the back of the lower leg, or in the tendons on the elbows or shoulders. Cortisone-type drugs reduce swelling and lessen pain and can allow an athlete or exerciser to get back to sports, but cortisone injections weaken the tendons for more than 84 days.

If you suffer chronic pain in the tendons, muscles, ligaments or fascia, check with your doctor to see if you have a chronic disease causing it, such as arthritis or hepatitis. The non-steroidals that are usually prescribed block pain but do not help tissue to heal. Your doctor may prescribe light rehabilitation exercises. If you receive a cortisone-type injection, make sure that you protect that area from hard exercise for at least two months after you receive the injection.

Did you know that kidney stones natural remedies are one of the fastest growing natural treatments in America?

If you are suffering from calcium kidney stones, it is time you relieve the pain and naturally dissolve your kidney stones. And because kidney research is at a peak level, many natural remedies have shown to be more effective than your doctor’s advice, water.

If you are tired of drinking a gallon of water a day, maybe it is time you learn why natural remedies work and what remedies are out there?

Why Kidney Stone Natural Remedies Work?

Most doctors recommend waiting out a kidney stone with 2 ingredients: water and time. However, the newest research is showing that waiting for a stone to pass can cause damage to your kidney and unneeded emotional stress.

But before you try a natural remedy you should know why they work?

First off, your diet usually has little impact on whether you form kidney stones. What you drink is commonly the cause of kidney stones. However, in some cases, you may be genetically inclined to form kidney stones. Whatever the cause, about 90% of kidney stones can be dissolved and passed painlessly.

And kidney stones can be dissolved because they are usually composed of calcium which is a very brittle mineral when formed quickly (unlike your bones). And because calcium kidney stones form slowly, they can be quickly dissolved using simple natural acidic remedies.

For instance, phosphoric acid is a common remedy used for dissolution of kidney stones. Phosphoric acid (often found in cleaning products, foods and some beverages) is an effective ingredient to dissolve kidney stones. And because the liver plays no role in acid base regulation, the phosphoric acid is able to get to the kidneys undiluted.

What Are Some Simple Kidney Stone Remedies?

1. Because most kidney stones pass with water you should never forget to drink plenty of water. As a natural health expert, I recommend drinking half your body weight in ounces per day. In other words, if you weight 200 lbs, you should drink about 100 ounces of water a month.

2. You should also consider how water soluble fiber can help flush your kidneys. Because fresh fruits and vegetables are loaded with water soluble fiber, you should consider eating 5-7 fruits and vegetables every day. The most effective vegetable we have found is asparagus which can be boiled and made into a puree or juice.

3. You may also wish to exercise and generate a sweat. I am not trying to convince you to exercise till you lose 20 lbs. but just to get out and exercise for 20 minutes. Research is showing that your body runs more efficiently and effectively after exercise. One simple exercise that has gotten some attention is the jump and bump remedy for kidney stones.

4. You may also try an extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice remedy. Before bed, mix 3 ounces of extra virgin olive and 3 ounces of lemon juice together and drink. Make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the next 3 or 4 days. You should do this every night till the stone(s) pass.

5. Finally, you should also educate yourself about kidney stone natural remedies. Research shows that the most effective remedies use acids to dissolve the kidney stones so they can pass painlessly. To discover the most effective remedy that uses only 2 simple ingredients, please view our Kidney Stone Remedy Report.

Increase fluid intake, primarily water. The goal is an output of two to three quarts per day. To achieve this output, drink at least that much everyday…

Three Things You Can Do to Combat Dog Kidney Failure

A lot of people are under the impression that dog kidney failure is fatal. It is not exactly true. While it is certainly a very serious problem, it is not something that can kill your dog immediately. With the right kind of diet and medications, you can prolong your dog’s life by a few years.

Dog kidney failure, according to pet health experts, is a condition wherein the capacity of the dog’s kidneys is reduced drastically. More often than not, they tend to function at less than 25% of their normal capacity. If your dog is in such a condition, you need to understand that you should act immediately to save its life. If its kidney function falls below 5%, it can be fatal.

Kidney failure in dogs is caused by a number of factors. Bacterial infections and bladder stones, if left untreated for a long time, could damage the kidneys badly. If your dog gets hit in the kidney area, it could damage its kidneys as well. Poisonous substances like rat poison, pesticides, turpentine, and antifreeze could damage its kidneys. Certain antibiotic medications and immunosuppressive drugs tend to damage your dog’s kidneys as well.

First and foremost, you should be aware of the most common dog kidney failure symptoms like vomiting, depression, loss of appetite, weight loss, and diarrhea. If your dog shows these symptoms, you should take it to a vet immediately and get it checked thoroughly. Once the vet confirms that your dog’s kidneys are damaged badly, you should do the following things.

2. Only feed your dog a high quality dog food that is AAFCO certified. This certification means that a food contains the 40 components needed by a dog. Unlike people, dogs only eat one food, so it needs to be well balanced. While a home diet is a good substitute, it needs to be put together by a veterinary nutritionist that can ensure the right combination of components.

3. Consider homeopathic supplements to strengthen the urogenital system, maintain a healthy urine flow, keep the urine pH at the right level, and boost its immune system.

While a special diet or a regular dose of homeopathic supplements cannot make your dog’s kidneys function at their normal capacity, they can certainly alleviate some of the dog kidney failure symptoms and improve your dog’s health to a considerable extent. This is the best way to increase its lifespan by a few more years and spare the pain and suffering that is usually associated with these types of problems.

Ovarian Cysts – Simple Easy to Understand Information About This …

Ovarian cysts are very common in women in any age group, but more common in women during their childbearing years. A woman may develop a single cyst or many cysts, they can vary in size and are usually found on the surface of the ovary. The most common type of ovarian cyst is called a functional cyst as it forms as a result of ovulation which is a normal function of the female body.

Women normally have two ovaries that store and release eggs. An ovary is approximately the same size as a walnut. They are located on either side of the uterus. One ovary produces one egg each month and this is the process that starts the menstrual cycle. Each month, an egg, encased in a sack called a follicle, grows inside the ovary. The follicle is supposed to break open and release the egg. Should the egg not be released from the follicle, the fluid stays in the follicle and forms a cyst.

The vast majority of ovarian cysts are considered functional or physiologic, this means they have nothing to do with disease. Most ovarian cysts are benign, which means they are harmless and not cancerous.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF OVARIAN CYSTS

Functional: Functional cysts fall into two categories, follicular and corpus luteum. Follicular cysts seldom cause pain, are usually harmless and may disappear within a two to three month period. A Corpus luteum cyst can cause pelvic or abdominal pain but will usually disappear in a few weeks. Because these types of cysts are formed during ovulation they rarely occur in menopausal women.

Dermoid: This is an abnormal type cyst that usually affects younger women. It is a type of benign tumor. This cyst can be filled with various types of tissue but generally made up of fat. Although rare, these cysts can become large and rupture and cause bleeding into the abdomen, which would be a medical emergency.

Endometrioma: This type of cyst is formed when the mucous membrane that makes up the inner layer of the uterine wall grows in the ovaries. This type is also known as a "chocolate cyst," they respond to monthly hormonal changes which can cause the cyst to become filled with blood which is reddish-brown in color. This type of cysts can cause chronic pelvic pain associated with menstruation and intercourse.

Cystadenoma: This type of cyst is a type of tumor and usually benign, it develops from cells on the outer surface of the ovaries. Occasionally, they can become quite large and therefore interfere with abdominal organs and cause pain.

Multiple cysts – the polycystic ovary: A woman who does not ovulate on a regular basis can develop multiple cysts. The ovaries can become quite enlarged and may contain many smaller cysts clustered under a thickened layer. There are many factors causing a woman to not ovulate and develop polycystic ovaries. Polycystic ovarian syndrome involves cardiovascular and metabolic risks linked to insulin resistance. This syndrome is associated with infertility, abnormal bleeding and increased risk of miscarriage.

SYMPTOMS

It is not easy to know whether you have ovarian cysts. You may have cysts but have no obvious signs. Most ovarian cysts are small and don’t cause symptoms. When symptoms are present ovarian cysts may cause a dull ache or a sense of fullness or pressure on the abdomen. Other symptoms that may be experienced are:

Weight gain

A constant ache of either side of the pelvis

Aching in the thighs or lower back

Increased facial and body hair

Pain during intercourse

Pain during your menstrual period

A feeling of pressure on your bladder or rectum

Nausea & vomiting

Breast tenderness

Vaginal spotting

Irregular or absent menstrual periods

Very Important Note: If you experience severe sudden pain, fever and or vomiting, this can be a sign of a ruptured cyst. This is a medical emergency and you need to seek attention immediately.

There is confusion associated with the symptoms of ovarian cysts as some of those noted above can also be symptoms of conditions such as appendicitis, gall bladder disease, kidney stone, bladder infection, diverticulitis and intestinal inflammation or obstruction.

DIAGNOSIS

An ovarian cyst may be discovered during a pelvic exam if so an ultrasound may be ordered. An ultrasound is painless and is a procedure where sound waves are transmitted through the pelvic area and an image of the pelvic area and uterus is shown on a screen. This image will allow your health care provider to determine the nature of the cyst. If a functional cyst is found it will be characterized by being fluid-filled and made up of one single sack.

TREATMENT

Several different treatments are available and the choice of treatment will depend on the type of cyst, family history, if you have been experiencing symptoms, how large the cyst is and your age.

Functional cysts do not usually require treatment and will disappear on their own after one to three menstrual cycles. Oral contraceptives may be prescribed by your health care provider to help make your menstrual cycle more normal which may decrease the development of functional ovarian cysts.

PREVENTION

It is said that there are several fundamental ways you can minimize the probability of developing ovarian cysts. An increase in exercise can help as well controlling stress levels in your life. Diet, in relation to the development of ovarian cysts has been identified as a major contributing factor.

A recent study conducted by the Institute of Research Pharmacology studied the diet of 225 women who had benign ovarian cysts and 450 women who did not have ovarian cysts. This study was conducted over a 10 year period.

This study uncovered evidence that proved the type of food consumed did in fact influence the development of ovarian cysts. It was found that women who consumed the most beef and cheese developed ovarian cysts. The researchers also found that the consumption of green vegetables appeared to provide a strong protective effect against developing the condition. This study provided clear evidence that your daily diet plays a major role in influencing whether or not you develop ovarian cysts.

CONCLUSION

If you believe you may be suffering from ovarian cysts you must seek advice. If in fact you know you are suffering from this condition and are uncomfortable with the information and treatment that has been presented to you, you must gain more information and seek other opinions before making a decision about one particular type of treatment.

Kidney Stones – Causes, Symptoms and Treatments

Before one would understand what kidney stones is as one needs to know the function of the kidney. The kidney is a vital organ of the body. It is responsible for functions relating to the filtration of the blood and makes urine and this removing the waste form the body. In case, the kidney stops to work the waste would not be disposed off from the body and hence, there would be concerns as the waste is not taken care of.

In the urine there are chemicals and at times these chemicals get together and for small stones or particles. These particles would not be bigger than a sand particle. But, over the period of time these would get accumulated to turn into kidney stones. Till the time these stones would be there in the kidney, it would not be a concern, however, when it gets to the ureter, which is the tube that joins the kidney with the bladder, it poses concerns. The stone would act like a dam and would create pressure and thus the person would feel the pain. Clearly, more than the size of the stones, it is the location of the same which would cause problems and would need medical attention.

The causes may vary from person to person. One of the causes is heredity. As your biological parents have or had kidney stones, would make you more prone to have these as well. At the same time the geographical location that a person is living at would be the cause. Like for example, Americans living in the southern region of the country are more likely to have kidney stones. This would be because of hot climate and less than required intake of water. Diet is another reason for people to develop kidney stones. The kidney stones would have a lot of calcium deposits. Thus, foods rich in calcium when one is prone to kidney stones would accelerate the process of building stones. Certain medications also lead to the development of these as well or there could be some underlined illness to that kind of problem as well.

As mentioned the ureter is blocked by these stones which would act as a dam. The body would create waves to take care of this obstruction and these would cause pain. These pain waves are called colic. The person having kidney stones would feel intense pain which would be wax and wane but there would be a persistent ache underlying. When in pain it would be very difficult for the person to get in a comfortable posture. Vomiting, nausea and sweating would be common signs. People might see blood while urinating.

The doctor needs to be consulted to see how sever the problem is. In some cases the stones are quite tiny and could be diluted and disposed off like the other body waste. In some case, surgical procedures are needed to take these kidney stones out. Usually there is a laundry list of self care tips that the doctors would recommend to avoid the recurrence of these kidney stones.

It is true that kidney stones are more prevalent in men than women; however, the numbers for females have been rising in the past few years. This is largely due to poor dietary habits. The fast paced lives have lowered the intake of fresh fruit and vegetables while greatly increasing the amount of high protein found in many fast foods. Once a person has a kidney stone, man or woman, the chances are highly increased for a recurrence of kidney stones.

Due to the fact that during a normal menstruation period a woman fells pain in their lower abdomen as a regular occurrence, kidney stones are over looked by some women at first as normal pain. It is virtually impossible to identify the difference of the pain a kidney stone causes from a menstruation pain, often women suffer for far longer periods. As a female, it is more important to observe whether pain is followed with urinary complaints, fever, and nausea or vomiting. Any time any of these symptoms follow abdomen pain, contact your health provider as soon as possible so that they will be able to diagnose whether it is a stone or not. Any time pain in the abdominal area lasts longer than 24 hours after the menstrual cycle ends, it should be reported to a doctor as it may be a kidney stone or any other numerous conditions.

It is reported that 80 per cent of all stones are calcium stones. Calcium supplements are advocated for women to take in order to ward of other conditions, thus increasing the likely hood of women developing calcium stones. It has been suggested as a result of some medical studies that women who do take calcium as a supplement take it with a full mean. Some studies report a drastic decline in incidences of kidney stones.

Although the following is not the consensus of all in the medical profession, it has been reported that women have a higher incidence of another type of kidney stone as well. It is called a struvite stone. These types of stones are caused by a person having repetitive urinary tract infections. Struvite stones are serious as they can damage the kidney due to the larger size they can be in relationship to a calcium stone.

Any time a woman has a persistent pain in the abdominal area, it should be reported to a health care provider as kidney stones are not the only source of abdominal pain.
